Our tour with Susan began with an informative high level overview of the Bath area. This was great context for the details that followed throughout our walk around the beautiful city of Bath. We highly recommend a tour with Susan if you are fascinated by history, architecture and the marvels of engineering!! She is an engaging, enthusiastic and energetic host!

About Bath

Bath is without doubt one of the most charming, elegant and popular cities in England. With a history that spans more than three thousand years, Bath is 185 kilometers from the capital and is one of the top tourist destinations in the country. The city of Bath was nominated and officially inducted by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 1987 - recognized for its amazing architecture, history and characteristic landscape as one of the ‘places of outstanding universal value to the whole of humanity’.

Bath is perfect for a weekend getaway, where you can marvel at the Georgian architecture and world-class museums, stroll the grand streets and parks, visit the Roman Baths and absorb yourself in an atmosphere rich with true English essence. Known for being one of the English aristocracy’s favorite holiday destinations, and closely tied to English classical literature, with such famous figures as Jane Austen, Bath holds great charm and a special magic for all those tourists who are visiting again or discovering it for the first time.

Visiting this beautiful place is like a trip through time to discover some of the most eventful and interesting aspects of English history. One of the first stops should undoubtedly be the Roman Baths, a meeting place for the most genteel of English society in the 18th century. The Abbey which is more than a thousand years old, is another essential stop, especially if you want to reserve one of the recommended free walking tours in Bath, which will take you to some of the most fascinating places in town.

Other essential things to do while you are in Bath include walking along Royal Crescent, visiting the Fashion Museum and the Assembly Room, and the Jane Austen Centre, an obligatory stop for any fan of this great writer. Visiting the idyllic green spaces of Royal Victoria Park, Sydney Gardens, Parade Gardens and Prior Park, and strolling along Great Pulteney Street and Pulteney Bridge can be the perfect way to explore and learn more about this city, or indulge yourself by taking a longer trip on the Bath Cityscape Walk and finding cozy countryside pubs.
