It was a great tour of the Jewish Quarter and our guide Jony had an incredible knowledge of the area and its history. I highly recommend this tour.
Jony’s tour of the Jewish Quarter was exceptional. His extensive knowledge of Jewish life in Spain— of Jewish and Spanish history— was evident, his passion palpable. As he explained, he is a journalist and has researched the subject extensively. He really brought the history to life, from the so-called Golden Age of Jewish life, through the inquisition and the Jews’ expulsion, from Spain and Portugal— which just so happened to coincide with Christopher Columbus’s voyage. Why? Why were there Jewish pirates in the Caribbean? Why was the Ancient Synagogue just restored in the 1990s? You will learn so much, your head will be spinning and you will want to know more!
