Tour description

I'm sure you know that Hong Kong has the largest amount of skyscrapers in the world, but did you know there's an abundance of nature, history and traditions beyond the concrete jungle?

I'd love to show you a part of my city that tourists rarely get to see! Let me give you a glimpse of some time-honoured local traditions and culture, as well as some amazing nature reserves, that co-exist seamlessly within our modern city.

We'll start with a walk through a traditional village on our way to a Buddhist monastery on the top of a hill. Then after admiring the ornate statues and displays of the local deities Kwun Yam and Buddha, we'll move on to a nearby tomb, followed by a small temple.

Our next destination will be Sha Tin Park, a surprisingly quiet, green spot in the city, with traditional gardens and art installations.

From the park, we'll follow the Shing Mun River to the Hong Kong Heritage Museum, where we can stop to admire the outdoor displays and the permanent Bruce Lee exhibition, before walking the short distance to the beginning of the river.

There we'll find our final destination, a local teahouse where you can enjoy some tasty local delicacies! Highlights of the tour will include -
* Traditional village
* 10,000 Buddhas Monastery
* Sai Lam Temple
* Sha Tin Park
* Shing Mun River
* Hong Kong Heritage Museum
* Traditional Teahouse

Optional extras
- Take a short detour to the Che Kung Temple, across the road from the Heritage Museum. It's a worship place for a renowned military leader from the Southern Song Dynasty
- Visit the Lion Rock Country Park and hike to the iconic Lion Rock, for a birdseye view of the whole city, from the island to the border!
