I was fortunate enough to meet Estefania of Guru talks in the city of Manizales. https:///-private-city-tour-in-a-charming-city It is not easy to find guides in Manizales but I got lucky and found Guru walks and Estefania. Our time together was in January of this year. Estefania speaks fluent English. She is passionate about Manizales and super knowledgeable. She loves her city and it shows by her constant enthusiasm. She met me at the airport when I arrived in the early afternoon. We then went to a healthy Colombian restaurant. Colombian food is not necessarily healthy but Estefania knows the high quality and healthier places to eat. After lunch, we did a tour around the city, seeing the sights and exploring many of its areas. It is an incredibly beautiful city, surrounding by mountains and views. The weather is refreshing but since it is a bit higher in elevation, it can rain there. It is also a university town with many students. I was able to see where Estefania studied. Besides being a quaint and tranquil city, Manizales is the most civil city I have seen in Colombia. There are generally no traffic jams and it is the only city in Colombia that people in cars stop for pedestrians. For our second day, we did a coffee tour. I have done many coffee tours but this has been the best. There was a local guide who really explained the processes including the economic business of coffee on the farm and in the international market. The owner of the coffee farm joined our conversation at times. It was a fascinating 4 hours of talk, walking, and learning. The views were incredible. The owner of the coffee farm also has some cabins to rent. After the coffee tour, we went back to Manizales and connected with Estefania’s brother who also speaks English. He is a medical student. We all went together to the amazing fruit and vegetable market. Estefana is only 24 years old but she is incredible. She has started her own business, unrelated to tourism. She is an entrepreneur and really is motivated in everything that she does. My final experience in Manizales was the morning of my flight from Manizales to a different city. Estefania arranged an intercambio with her brother with him speaking English and me speaking Spanish. I loved it. Manizales is the gateway to the coffee zone in Colombia. If this interests you, I suggest you start your exploration of the coffee zone in Manizales and Estefania would be an excellent fit for all of those looking to explore Manizales and the surrounding area. Estefania is a kind, intelligent, fun, and adventurous person. She is incredible.
