Hello and welcome! I am Feodor, my main specialization is religious education and interfaith dialogue. I took part in a number of international academic activities such as International Seminar on Religion and Values (ISREV) or Scriptural Reasoning (SRU). In 2006-2009 I was a Russian coordinator of European Research Project REDCo (Religion in Education. A contribution to Dialogue or a factor of conflict in transforming societies of European Countries). For many years I kept a position of the Professor at the Russian Christian Academy for Humanities in St. Petersburg. Currently I am a catechist at Our Lady of Vladimir Cathedral. I am also an author of several books on popular theological topics (published in Russian).
On this tour we will visit Our Lady of Vladimir Cathedral, one of St. Petersburg’s oldest churches, to feel the pulse of Russian Spirituality. First we will gather at the monument to Fyodor Dostoevsky, a parishioner of the church. After a short introduction to the history, we go inside to experience the worship. The baroque interior, icons, gorgeous ceremony and the beautiful chanting of the church choir will give you a taste of classical Orthodox worship. While the service is going on, the guide will take you to a quiet place to seat and talk about the Eastern Christian tradition, its history, theology, liturgy, hagiography and about unique features of Russian thought and faith. Blessings from the priest will complete our meeting.
Near monument to F. Dostoevskiy, you can recognize me by my beard and glasses.
Free tours do not have a set price, instead, each person gives the guru at the end of the tour the amount that he or she considers appropriate (these usually range from €10 to $50 depending on satisfaction with the tour).
