I am a Journalist, a Teacher of Spanish Language and Literature and a Tourism Guide. I love History and, more specially, stories and anecdotes which make any account to become funny and unforgettable. And that's what I want our tour to be: a memorable experience for all. I'm also friendly and talkative, always willing to solve the questions of my guests. I'm also a foddie and I know good places to eat Spanish food.
I will show you the history of Madrid through many funny stories. We will start the tour in Sol, right at the bottom of a large clock that has a very special meaning every December 31, at 12 pm; You will also discover why this square is called Puerta del Sol. From there, we will go to the Plaza Mayor, which, originally, was the main market in the city. Later we will visit Botín, the oldest restaurant in the world according to Guinness Records. How about an aperitif at the Mercado de San Miguel? After that great aperitif, we will continue enjoying Madrid de los Austrias (the old part of the city), where we will find the Old Town Hall, with its tower from 1494; the Military Cathedral; the tower of San Nicolás, from 1202; the Arab wall of the city, from the 9th century BC. The New Cathedral where you can see a very unique relic. You will be able to see the imposing façade of the Royal Palace, the largest in Europe, with its 3418 rooms. A walk through the Plaza de Oriente will show us one of the most beautiful statues in the city: the one dedicated to Felipe IV, made by two very important artists and a scientist, in 1640. Before finishing our tour, we will make a stop at the Opera Hall, built in just 5 months! I'm sure you will get a great impression of this amazing city, the only capital of Europe founded by the Arabs in 852. Let's start learning and discovery.
