I offer walking tours around St.Petersburg and its environs, which are extremely detailed and where you would be able to find out not only the facts, such as who, what, for how long and for how much, using how many kilos, etc., but learn both iconographies, namely what allegories are used in that particular object of art or architecture, along with iconology, meaning what values were its owners and creators trying to convey. You are more than welcome to try my lecture tours in a unique style of infotainment (mixing history and anecdotal storytelling) delivered with my own style. I offer walking tours around St.Petersburg, that are usually off the beaten paths and could be extremely detailed, but a crash/introductory course of main highlights of the city is also available upon request. I can be both academic and entertaining, and I promise not to overload you with unnecessary details. WHY SHOULD YOU DO MY TOURS? I'm choosing breathtaking views all over the city. Every day I work hard to make the experience of my clients better and more engaging. Groups are extremely small (four people maximum), personal, and informative the real nitty-gritty of the city and usually, the fine details are not overlooked for the more popular highlights. Of course, the main highlights are available for anyone who asks. My area of expertise is in architecture and art history. But where I really exceed, it is Russian history.
During the first 2 centuries of its existence St.Petersburg went through golden and silver ages that ended in three revolutions. We are going to take a look at the places closely connected with its history, so you would be able to see things that amaze and hear things that educate. We are going to cover a lot of ground in the historical center of the city, because the main attraction in St.Petersburg are its ensembles, different streets and squares with varied buildings and canals united in a single whole, that are impossible to change by adding or subtracting anything from it, without ruining it, and which are situated in and around downtown area and Nevsky prospect. You can easily spend many days looking at those, because each building is closely connected with history of Russia and surrounded by mystery, intrigue and drama. On our walk along the streets and canals we'll spot the mansions of the richest Russian families that rivaled the Romanovs, who owned a land compared to any kingdom in Europe. I've spent years at the library reading about their fortunes and their famous representatives, who influenced the history of Russia in 18-20 cent. and I want to pass it to you.
