My name is Maria, I love living in Cádiz, I enjoy teaching things about History, specially stories about my city and their people, so nice as the weather. I have studied Archaeology and History apart from Arts so I try to give complete explanations, dates and some curiosities as part of the tour. So have a go!!
In this journey through the most recent history we begin our journey with the rebellious causes of Cadiz by liberalism and other times by freedom. ____________________________ We will visit: Plaza España with the magnificent commemorative monument to the 1812 Constitution, La Pepa and the lookout towers that mark the Cádiz skyline. Plaza de Candelaria to learn about the work of our most rebellious mayor, Fermín Salvochea. We will continue through the Plaza de las Flores or Topete, which although he was not originally from Cádiz, could have been "because a person from Cádiz is born wherever he wants", one of the leaders of the Gloriosa for which Elizabeth II had to say goodbye to Spain there around 1868. Our trip will end in the Plaza de Mina, in honor of the warrior Espoz y Mina where we will find the Provincial Museum, inside it houses masterpieces and unique archeology from all periods, works by Baroque masters such as Rubens and Murillo as well as a sample with Cádiz ethnography, the puppets of Tía Norica who are an example of how the people of Cádiz lived at the time. ___________________________________ Note: admission to the Provincial Museum is free for EU citizens. For non-EU citizens the price is 1.50 euros. The schedule adapted to the situation of COVID 19 is limited from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. from Tuesday to Sunday, and there may be capacity limitations. The tour includes a visit to the interior of the Museum. _________________________________
We will meet at the main door of the Cadíz Provincial building, you will recognize me because I will carry a sign that says "Guru Maria is already here"
Free tours do not have a set price, instead, each person gives the guru at the end of the tour the amount that he or she considers appropriate (these usually range from €10 to $50 depending on satisfaction with the tour).
