Hello! My name is Andrew Glover. I'm a certified London guide and I also run Walking Tours with my own company
Did you know that in 1666 a fire in a bakers' oven spread to consume two-thirds of the City of London? This walk explores where it started, how the government tried to fight it and why it was so hard to put out.
We will visit the Monument to the Fire in Pudding Lane and visit (outside) St Paul's cathedral: we will also learn how the City burned again in 1940 and how the cathedral miraculously survived.
Starts at the Tower of London and ends next to St Paul's cathedral.
Note the Tour will NOT run if fewer than four people book.
I will be at the exit of Tower Hill tube station carrying a blue shoulder bag saying "Who Knew Walking Tours"
Sir Christopher Wren's column commemorating the Great Fire
The only surviving ancient gate of London, and the last place where traitors' heads were displayed
Free tours do not have a set price, instead, each person gives the guru at the end of the tour the amount that he or she considers appropriate (these usually range from €10 to $50 depending on satisfaction with the tour).
