I'm a local tour guide passionate to show my culture and beliefs throughout the amazing landscape and beautiful Bolivian people. The CAT HAT Extreme cities tour is the best way to get to know both cities (La Paz and El Alto) connected by the cable car. We cover history, tradition and culture through different stops and incredible stories that will keep you entertained and wanting to know more and more.
The CAT HAT "Extreme cities (La Paz - El Alto)" walking tour is a very cultural tour that will take you to key places in both cities, so you will know a lot about Bolivian people.
-The tour begins in Plaza Murillo with an introduction to the crazy Bolivian history and its presidents in different eras, including the current one.
-Then we will visit Sucre square to talk about the most bizarre place in the center of La Paz... The San Pedro Prison. Where you will learn more about how it works and why it is so famous worldwide.
-We will also take the cable car to climb up to 4,100 meters high to one of the highest cities in the world, El Alto.
-In El Alto we will visit the largest food market in the city, where you can see how locals do our shopping and learn more about cholitas (traditional ladies).
-The tour also includes a visit to the real witches market where you will see offerings for Pachamama in the middle of the street.
-We ended up going down to La Paz by cable car, to say goodbye at the Obelisco station (purple line).
Join this incredible tour with all the local experience, guided by a local guide. We walk rain or shine everyday but Sunday.
* Don't forget to bring 6 Bs. for the tickets to the cable car
The guide will be right there at the main door of La Merced church, wearing a distinctive CAT HAT. Please try to be 5 mins earlier, if you can not be there on time you can catch up with the group at Murillo square only one block away from meeting point.
