Hi. I've lived in Seoul for 12 years and love exploring new areas. I'm a bit of a history nerd and can show you the spots that aren't in most guidebooks (did you know Seoul has a sixth palace?). I like to keep my tours flexible to the travelers' needs. Hope you join me for a walk around Seoul!

Tour description

TGIF! In Korean, it's called 'bulgeum' meaning 'Fire Friday.' This tour is the perfect way to start your weekend. It also sometimes runs on a Tuesday.
This tour starts off in the old part of town, exploring the traditional hanok houses of the Bukchon north village. It then heads into the trendy Ikseondong neighbourhood and ends in Jongro, the perfect place for some dinner or drinks.
On the way, you'll see Jogyesa, the main Buddhist temple in Seoul; Unhyeongung, Seoul's less well-known 'sixth' palace; and Tapgol Park, the birthplace of Korean independence.
You'll see everything from traditional markets to street food, trendy cafes, and photo rooms.
The tour starts near Gyeongbokgung Palace (closed on Tuesday) which is easy to explore by yourself if you have a few hours spare before the tour.

Tour itinerary:

  • Gyeongbokgung Palace gates
  • Jogyesa Buddhist temple
  • Bukchon Hanok village
  • Unhyeongung Palace
  • Ikseondong neighborhood
  • Tapgol Park
  • Jongro neighborhood
  • Bosingak Pavillion

Meeting point: Gyeongbokgung station exit 5. The exit is at the end of the long underground passage shownin the photos. If you are a little bit early, take some time to enjoy the art in the passage.

This was a great walking tour and it covered a lot of the older sites on the north side of Seoul. Steve was great at communicating beforehand and was very kind about helping me connect with the group when I couldn’t find the initial meet up point. I learned a lot of interesting facts and saw some great views of the city. I definitely recommend Steve and this tour to anyone visiting Seoul!

I highly recommend this tour, especially within the first few days in Seoul. Steve is very personable. He shares an excellent mix of historical events and his own years long living is Seoul experiences and observations.
