    Bab EL Ain

This is the main gate of the Medina. The name Bab El Ain means the eye gate. This is because it is a double storied structure from where the guards used to watch over the Medina. It is the most convenient gate to use as it has banks, money changers, cafes, tourist office and area map near it. The Muslim Cemetery is located next to it. You can reach the bus station and the Central Market from this gate too. It is a 15th century edifice of beige sandstone. It was built during the reign of Mullay Bin Rashid.

    Souika

Souika or the market, a street lined with shops and cafes selling traditional Moroccan goods. that's where most people from the city or the countrysides around the blue city come for shopping when they have a wedding party or any Islamic or National occasion.

    Plaza Uta el Hamman، Chefchaouen

Place Outa el Hammam is the main square of the Medina. This is a place, where you can see the main Kasbah (the most important and historical building in the town, now a museum), the Big Mosque, (the most important religious building in the town) some souvenir shops and restaurants. It is a very good place to begin or finish the walk around the old town. Most of time there are street musicians and shows. You can have lunch or dinner while you see people is fantastic.

    Boutique EL-ASRI

Callejon El Asri, one of the famous streets in Morocco’s blue-washed Chefchaouen city was featured among “the most beautiful” streets in the world by US-based magazine House Beautiful. The street is beautifully decorated with colorful pot plants, making it a good destination for both photographs and tourists wishing to pose for souvenirs pictures from their Morocco trip.

  • 5
    Free admission
    Ras El Ma

Ras Elma, a very nice place where you can enjoy a stunning view with a Moroccan cup of tea while enjoying water flowing through your feet. This water source is located just east of the medina, outside its former walls. It was the original source of water for the city. The spot where the water emerges at the surface was once open but is now enclosed by a stone structure. Nearby and downstream are located an old mill and a bridge, possibly from the 19th century, which links the two shores of the stream.

  • 6
    Free admission
    Place El Haouta

The tiny little square is one of the most photogenic areas of Chefchaouen. It has cute little benches where both locals and tourists can rest. In the middle of this square stands a beautiful blue and white, four sided, fully functional fountain for people to have cold natural water to drink and to perform ablution for prayer. Around the square you can see some quaint little houses with elegant wrought iron grills and stylish doors. EL-Haouta worth visiting.

  • 7
    Free admission
    Bab el Mahrouk

This is the Northern Gate of the Chefchaouen Medina. It has a parking lot adjacent to it so a taxi can take you there. It is built at a very high point hence the view of the Medina and the Spanish Mosque is truly spectacular from there. The Gate is red in colour and Mahrouk means the burnt one in Arabic.

  • 8
    Free admission
    El Mellah

EL Mellah, also one of the oldest neighbourhoods in the city. It is a place full of history of acceptance and harmony between Muslims and Jewish people. The gate was built during the reign of Mulay Ali in Chefchaouen in the 15th century after Jews and Moors fled there following the Spanish Reconquista. Numerous Jewish families thrived in this picturesque blue town for centuries until Morocco gained independence and most Jews left for Israel.

  • 9
    Free admission
    Sebanine

The Sebanine neighbourhood is also a very old district located on the road leading to Ras EL-Ma. It has a group of mills that were used to grind olives. It also has one of the oldest traditional ovens in the area near to the bridge. It is a very calm place where you can enjoy the sound of water flowing in the river and the beautiful landscape of trees and mountains.

  • 10
    Outside visit
    Spanish Mosque

Spanish Mosque is the best spot where you can both enjoy the most beautiful sunset and view the colours of Chefchaouen and surrounding mountains. The Spanish Mosque was built in the 1920’s and sits on a hill that perfectly overlooks Chefchaouen’s medina. The only way to get up there to enjoy this incredible view is to take the hike up there.

We really enjoyed our tour of Chefchaouen with Abdou. He was well-informed and very passionate about his city. Even though it was raining the day we had our tour scheduled and it was just me and my friend for that particular slot, Abdou was willing to go ahead with the tour. He was genuinely eager to show around his beautiful city to us. It was a very beautiful experience to have seen the city of Chefchaouen through the eyes of a native person. Abdou explained the history of the city so well and the entire tour itinerary was carefully picked and very well organised, so that the tourists gets a real glimpse of Chefchaouen. He shared so many interesting facts about the city and the entire tour was real fun. He also suggested good restaurants in the city. He was also very kind and patient and clicked all of our pictures. He ended the tour with a surprise as promised and it indeed was amazing. He also helped me the following day to find some tours in the other cities as well. Thank you Abdou for a memorable trip of the city. I definitely recommend Abdou's tour to anyone visiting Chefchaouen!!!!

It was a very nice Tour with Lord of stuff to see and a very nicely picked route through the City so that we avoided having to Walk amidst of lots of people. While walking we could ask abdou anything and because we were a very small group we had some nice insights and topics of maroccan Culture. We Are very glad we took this Tour and would 100% do so again.
