Marta was tremendous. Her knowledge and enthusiasm were perfect for the tour. We ended up having her all to ourselves and it was a treat. The tour through the Albaicin, views of the Alhambra, and a little special visit to a “Carmen”, a garden home. Really fun. Highly recommend.

Miguel was a great guide for my family and me, and used a booklet with photos and key words to help supplement his verbal explanations. We appreciated that we stopped for a coffee and bathroom break halfway through, and he also provided recommendations for places to eat!
Free tour of the essentials of Granada

The Alhambra is a complex of palaces and fortresses in Granada, southern Spain. Originally built as a Muslim royal residence in 889 AD, it was later converted into a Christian cathedral in 1238.
The Alhambra is made up of many structures with gardens and narrow walkways between them. The buildings are grouped into areas of similar function or surface decoration, each with its own name.
An impressive place not to be missed, with many stories and details to be told by one of the guides on GuruWalk's free Alhambra tours.
The Alhambra has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1984. It is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Spain, as well as one of the most important sites in Europe.
In 2019, La Alhambra was voted one of the most beautiful buildings in the world by the UNESCO World Heritage List for its outstanding example of Islamic art and culture with a lavish use of colour and elaborate ornamentation.
The Alhambra was originally built as a citadel overlooking the city, but eventually became an influential palace that was famous for its architectural beauty and exceptional works of art.
The outer walls are built of red clay bricks and limestone blocks with some parts of granite. There are about 150 different rooms inside the Alhambra, all with impressive works of art such as paintings, ceramics or tiles with Arabic calligraphy.
People have been coming to see the Alhambra for centuries. And there are many reasons why they do so. From the beautiful gardens and fountains to the architectural wonders inside the palace, you can't miss this place in person! There are also legends about this place: some say that Mohammad's footprint can be seen engraved on one of the stones outside the palace walls. Well, given that this place is so old, no wonder there are so many stories about it!
