My name is Elly Thomas Kimaro; an experienced Mount Kilimanjaro Local Tour Guide and Managing director of Kilimanjaro Lifetime Adventures and Safaris. I was born and raised in the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro and I spend my lifetime guiding hikers on Mount Kilimanjaro. I studied wildlife management and mountain guiding. My environmental interest along with my love of life and my curiosity for meeting people from all over the world led me to become both a Safari and a Mountain Guide. I have climbed Kilimanjaro as a chief guide more than 100 times. I have participated in an equal number of walking and camping safaris at national parks in East Africa. My vision was to create a company that would combine my respect for nature with traveling and creating work opportunities for the local people. In 2022 Kilimanjaro Lifetime Adventures has built a knowledgeable and experienced working team, leading groups from all over the world.
Nestled in the foothills of the mighty Mt. Kilimanjaro lies the laid-back town of Moshi. No matter where you wander around the town, you will be greeted by a friendly “Jambo” (hello) by the locals as they go about their day-to-day business. Look up on a clear day, and you’ll also see the mountain dominating the town’s skyline.
Although 55,000 visitors come here annually to climb the famous Mt Kilimanjaro, this vibrant town has remained largely unaffected and has managed to keep its charm. And while the mountain might be the main attraction in Moshi, it is also the gateway to so many other fascinating places that will give you a true taste of Northern Tanzania.
Here is why we think you should spend at least a few days seeing what Moshi has to offer;
Take a walk to the small town of Moshi while experiencing Town Markets, Old Railway Station, Souvenir Stores, and Local Culture.
Meet up at our office in Uru Road, Rau, Moshi Tanzania or at your hotel i.e Parkview Inn
Free tours do not have a set price, instead, each person gives the guru at the end of the tour the amount that he or she considers appropriate (these usually range from €10 to $50 depending on satisfaction with the tour).
